Off the rails in love…

We shared an amazing day being the center of attention in the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum - and we loved it.

This was a rather amazing day brought on by a string of events that we never could have predicted. I first reached out to the museum months in advance to inquire about doing this and was told the usual “I’m not sure, we’ll get back to you.” As it sometimes happen, things fell through the cracks. I did finally get a call from the museum a few weeks before our planned shoot from none other than the director of the museum himself. He was super apologetic and said they’d be thrilled to have us! Slight downside, the museum is open to the public and he was concerned people may photobomb our shoot. His solution - the staff is actually there more hours than the museum is open, so we could come before they were officially open or stay after they closed. Either way we’d have about an hour to ourselves. This was beyond anything we could have hoped for and confirmed the date. The day before our shoot I got a panicked call from Grace - “They’re closed on Tuesdays!” So I emailed the director and received back “You have my cell number, just give me a call and I’ll let you in.” We ended up having the entire day to ourselves. Instead of an hour we spent almost five hours exploring and taking photos. It was an absolute blast. We cannot thank Patrick Morrison or the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania enough for making this day so absolutely spectacular.

Slight addendum before anyone asks, we know you’re never supposed to take photographs on tracks. Tom was very aware of this fact as well. We discussed it and settled on the fact that the shots were cool, and we were in an enclosed railyard with no possible live trains anywhere close by.
